This Modern Kitchen design is located in the beautiful area of Anaheim Hills. We opened up the room by removing the existing walls and one load bearing beam, but leaving a few load bearing sections and beams in place. Three new beams were flush mounted within the ceiling for support. Keeping in the modern design A Calacatta Marble look quartz was used on the counters with a clean and sharp looking square edge profile. For the backsplash we utilized a 3D, 6×16 in size, ceramic tile that has the look of Vein Cut Travertine. The cabinets are a slab door style, in an Espresso Stain, accented with over-sized bar pulls. A new window was installed to keep everything in the kitchen area new and modern. For function and cleanliness we added a built in microwave into the peninsula, matched with a large banks of drawers to accommodate all large kitchenware. To finish off the space and connect the rooms together, we laid a large format wood looking tile throughout the entire new open area.

Like what you see? Call us today for your home renovation consultation! (909) 605-8800. As soon as we walked into this beautiful Spanish Revival home, we knew our design had to be second to none. To bring a bit of modernism into a space so authentic without losing any charm and originality was going to be a challenge well worth taking. This home, “Cielito Lindo”, which means “Beautiful Little Heaven”, was designed by the famous architect Henry Jekel in 1928. We had the pleasure of renovating it, and we think Henry would be proud. Starting in the Kitchen we relocated the sink into the peninsula and opened it up for seating near the dining area for a broad continuous space. A 48” Wolf commercial range is surrounded by white shaker cabinets and white statuario, marble look, quartz countertops. The backsplash is made up of white 2×12 tiles set in both brick and herringbone patterns. Irregular edges give it that old world look, then matched with gray grout to duplicate look of cement. LED under cabinet lighting set on a dimmer switch sets whatever mood you are in. Oil rubbed bronze plumbing fixtures and hardware, all atop natural hardwood floors finish off this Peninsula Kitchen donning that Spanish Revival feel, with a fresh twist. Next we added a wet bar and passthrough using accenting light blue tiles matching the white tiles used throughout kitchen. Cool colors and old world touches, such as the custom leaded glass upper cabinet doors stylize the area. Of course, we added a bit of modernism with an oversized wine fridge, all directly off the game room. Like we said, Henry would be proud.

Project Details

The transformation of this 1929 home in Claremont, CA is absolutely flawless. Bringing the coastal colors into a colonial revival style provides a soothing, and yet stunningly contrasted space. Navy blue shaker cabinets along the bottom of the kitchen, and hutch space, topped with white shaker upper cabinets in the kitchen space, and a combination of shaker, and glass front cabinets on the hutch cabinets. A few features of the cabinets include a super Susan, a lazy Susan, a pantry with full roll outs, a set of floating shelves, and a small wine cabinet style end cap. Gold hardware on the doors and drawers match the new gold faucet made by Newport Brass. The sink is an apron front cast iron sink from Kohler. The countertops are made of pure Carrara, honed marble, which accents the colors throughout the area, and brings a touch of nature in. For the backsplash, tiled up the entire wall, we used a 3×6 hexagon shaped white tile. In the hutch area as an accent we chose a 3×6 tile in a brick pattern. Both spaces we used white brick contrasted with a dark gray grout. A major change for these home owners was the removal of a wall that only had a doorway in it between the spaces. Removing that wall, bringing the curved corners into play to match the ceiling and the shape of the existing doorways in the home, created an open concept in what was a segregated location. By putting the microwave in the hutch area just outside the kitchen allowed for a continuation space to make that area feel like part of the kitchen instead of a separate dining room. We also added a built in bench, with shiplap up the walls for a custom seating area, painted stark black as yet another accent. The new casement window over the sink with custom mullions is also that deep black to match the new dinette bench and the other windows in this historical home. Last but not least was a touch up of the laundry area off the kitchen. Instead of bringing in more of the classic hardwood floor we chose to accent the space yet again with a beautiful fabric feel patterned tile floor. Such a perfect way to end a beautiful space.

Modern Kitchen Renovation #24. Amazingly Open and Stylish, La Verne, CA

The before and after of this space is so satisfying. When you walked through the front door, the kitchen was closed off behind a wall that spanned the entire area. We removed that wall, and opened up the space to have a more inviting feel. Removing that wall meant we lessened the pantry and cupboard space, so we corrected that with an oversized island including seating, a peninsula with a beverage station, and a display cabinet utilized for stemware, to make up for that. Slab doors made with white oak and stained in a graphite color are the centerpiece of the area. Utilizing various colors of gold, including brushed gold, honey bronze, and champagne bronze we were able to compliment both the cabinets, and the stainless steel appliances A few great cabinet extras include an oversized spice roll out, a pantry roll out, a cookie sheet cabinet, and a functional blind corner pull out in the corner cabinet. Topping the cabinets is a beautiful quartz countertop that has the look and feel of marble. The appliances are all modern and sizable, with a 36” range and hood, a new convection speed oven, and a dual side by side 24” fridge, with a 18” freezer. The sink, made by Kohler, is an apron front single bowl style, with 2 faucets, a soap dispenser, and a push button garbage disposal switch built in. Outside of this amazing new kitchen, we also updated the entertainment center in the family room, with cabinetry to match the kitchen, and a Bardiglio marble surrounding, and we added a 72” aesthetic fireplace accent. The flooring throughout the space was updated using a “greige” commercially rated 16”x32” porcelain tile, then finished with an acrylic grout.

Bringing a dated kitchen back to life has never been more apparent than in this amazing transformation. We all live with our “Just Fine” kitchens for so long. This family had had enough. Today, we bring you this modernized remodel in Corona, CA. The first thing you notice is the stark white shaker cabinets topped with a quartz countertop that mimics Carrara tile. Pendant lights over the new oversized kitchen island, which we extended for seating, top off the look of the new space. Adding light blue, glass tile, in a brick pattern up to the ceiling adds a touch of classic color. Atop the new cabinets is a custom soffit that not only adds character, but helps to conceal the ventilation for the stove and oven vent. A beautiful and useful addition. The kitchen sink is a centerpiece of it’s own, an apron front Kohler, single bowl, porcelain over cast iron masterpiece. Adding a Moen faucet with a built in extendable spray arm attachment conforms with the clean look of the room. As usual we added Lazy Susan’s in the corner cabinets, and banks for full extension drawers into the island for storage and functionality. A couple of accents are the new under cabinet LED lights, and the frosted glass door fronts on both the corner cabinet and the pantry door. But we didn’t stop there! New flooring leads you from the front door, through the kitchen and family room, off into the upgraded powder room. A 6×36 porcelain, commercially rated tile, and of course finished with acrylic grout for cleanliness. In the family room, to bring it up to date as well since it adjoins the kitchen, an all-new fireplace and entertainment center were built. Slate stacked stone, framed outward, to become a focal point in the room sits next to the clean and sturdy new entertainment center. Built with glass door fronts donned with dimmer lights, and bottom cabinets and shelving for the necessities at the bottom of the unit. These homeowners knew just what they wanted, and we were so happy to provide the perfect living space, custom designed for their family.

These homeowners adore their home just the way it is, but even they had to admit when it was time to remodel their bathrooms. Bringing this beautiful space up to date gave them a whole new room to love. Just like the video says, let’s start with that tub! An acrylic, freestanding tub made by Jacuzzi, placed artfully in the corner of the room. It is 66 inches long, and almost 24 inches tall, plenty of room to relax in this soaker tub. A new pony wall behind it decked out in a porcelain tile that matches the shower, with a chrome valve and filler, and topped with a quartz mantle that matches the rest of the counter tops. Under the tub is an artsy flat pebble mosaic cut into the porcelain tile mimicking wood planked floors. The cabinets are all original, just refinished during the remodel, but topped with new custom quartz countertops from Arizona Tile. Two undermount sinks, Moen chrome faucets, custom framed mirrors, and new chrome vanity lights finish the area. Across the room you will find a make up counter that also boasts all the same materials as the vanities. The shower is stunning, shaped in the formation of a C, as you walk in and curve around as you walk in towards the single valve faucet topped with a multi-function shower head. An ebbe drain that includes a hair catch lays amongst the matching pebble mosaic flooring as under the tub area. Three 15” niches provide plenty of space for your products, with the pebble mosaic backing, and matching quartz shelves to extend the shelf space. Commercially rated 12×24 porcelain tile, and a ribbon of the pebble mosaic go from floor to ceiling. A simple foot rest in the corner, two moisture resistant, recessed lights, towel hooks in the drying area, and a new, high powered exhaust fan just add all the convenience you could ask for.

Our Mid-Century Modern Remodel #27 part 4. The Final Reveal, in Claremont, CA

Project Details

We hope you are as excited to see this reveal as we all were. What an amazing transformation! This beautiful Claremont, CA home built in 1955 got a wonderful Mid-Century Modern update to the kitchen. The fireplace adjacent to the kitchen was the inspiration for this space. Pure white brick matched with a natural “Dune” stained maple mantle. Opposite the fireplace is a display will donned with matching maple shadowbox shelving. The pure white cabinets are topped with a Cabrini Grey quartz from Arizona Tile, mimicking a combination of concrete and limestone, with a square edge profile. To accent both the countertop and the cabinets we went with brushed gold and bronze fixtures. A Kohler “White Haven” apron front sink is finished with a Delta “Trinsic” faucet in champagne bronze, with matching push button garbage disposal, soap dispenser and aerator. One of the largest changes to the space was the relocating of the plumbing fixtures, and appliances. Giving the stove its own wall, a 30” KitchenAid unit with a stainless steel hood, backed with a stunning mid-century modern rhomboid patterned mosaic backsplash going up to the ceiling. The fridge stayed in the same location, but with all new cabinetry, including an over-sized 24” deep cabinet above it, and a KitchenAid microwave drawer built into the bottom cabinets. Another drastic change was the raising of the ceiling, pulling the height up from 8 foot to 9 foot, accented with crown moldings to match the cabinetry. Next to the kitchen we included a built in accent desk, a built in nook for seating with custom leather created by a local upholsterer, and a built in hutch. Adding another window brought in even more light to a bright and now cheerful space. Rather than replace the flooring, a simple refinish of the wood planks was all the space needed blending the style of the kitchen into the look and feel of the rest of the home.

Master Bathroom Remodel # 28. A Mission Viejo bathroom with Class and Function.

Project Description

Type: Master Bathroom remodel

Location: Mission Viejo, CA

Style: Eclectic

Year Completed: 2019

Designer: Jay Adams

Project Commercially rated Porcelain Tile, Quartz Countertop, Shower bench seat, Grab Bars.

Video Production By Classic Kitchens etc. and The Cut Shot

Project Details

A small but mighty remodel in Mission Viejo, California is now a stunning feature in this home. Let’s start with the Vanity area. An espresso cabinet topped with a white quartz counter top that houses an undermount square sink. A Moen, Voss faucet in an eight inch spread which matches the brushed nickel accents around the room. Above the vanity, sits a custom matching mirror with beveled glass and a matching front facing vanity light. The Shower is a world apart from the original shower in the home. A 3×5 foot shower donning 12”x24” commercially rated, slip resistant, porcelain tile, which looks like vein cut travertine. An accent linear band made of mosaic travertine and glass was added. The shower is tiled from floor to ceiling, and includes a rebuilt custom shower seat. Two grab bars for safety and security were added as well. For functionality we changed the small single niche that was in the space to two 15” niches. A shelf made of the same tile as the shower makes for a seamless transition. We used a frameless shower enclosure with sliding glass doors. The base of the shower includes a 4×4 curb, floated shower floor, and a hot mop shower pan. For the tile floor we designed a 2”x2” basket weave pattern, finished with an acrylic grout, using the same tile we put on walls and floor. An ebbe flow shower drain with hair catcher is a gorgeous way to center the space. Speaking of the same tile, we continued the 12×24 inch porcelain tile along the entire bathroom floor, creating a larger feel to the stunning room.
